Karuvepillai podi/Curry leaves powder:





Karuvepillai (Curry leaves) added in all south indian foods is best known medicine from the past. It also strengthens our hair on intake.Here are the ingredients for podi.
Ingredients

  • Fresh Karuvepillai (Curry leaves)-2 or 3 small cups
  • Thuvaram paruppu (Red gram)-1 tbsp
  • Uluththam paruppu (Black gram)-1 tbsp
  • Kadalai paruppu (Bengal gram)-1 tbsp
  • Seeragam (Cumin seed)-1 tea spoon
  • Poondu (Garlic)-10 cloves
  • Dhaniya (corinder seeds)-3 tbsp
  • Puli (Tamarind)-1 very small lemon
  • Segappu milagai (Red mirchi)-8 cloves
  • Salt- to taste
  • Oil-1 small cup
Procedure:
Note: To be done in low flame only.
- In a pan add a very little amount of oil and fry thuvaram paruppu,Uluththam paruppu,kadalai paruppu.keep aside.
- Fry dhaniya and seeragam in oil.
- Now fry red mirchi and fresh curry leaves in oil till it becomes crisp.
- Grind all the fried items to fine powder.
- Its time to add puli,salt,garlic and grind well.
- After grinding,transfer the powder in a bowl or plate..
- Boil a small cup of oil separately and add to the grinded powder.
- Mix well and store in air-tight container.
karuvepillai podi is taken with steamed rice along with gingelly oil or ghee.
